The cubic meter calculation formula is used in volumetric weight calculations. Accordingly, when calculating the volumetric weight of a cargo weighing 60 cm and 15 kg, the formula 60 x 60 x 60 / 3 is used.
The result is taken as basis. The divided 3 here is due to the fact that the DIM factor is accepted as 3000, and if the DIM value is accepted as 5000, it will be calculated as / 5.
Air Cargo Volume Calculation
It is considered one of the fastest and safest applications in the field of air cargo logistics. For this reason, it is used more and more day by day. However, the cost is higher than other cargoes.

In general, volumetric weight is accepted as 167 kg in air cargo applications.

Extra volume weight is determined for materials that cannot be stacked.
Air Cargo Volumetric Weight Calculation
Four steps are used in air cargo volumetric weight calculation applications. These are gross weight, cargo volume, volumetric weight, basic fee weight.
For example, let’s say the quantity of cargo we have is 10. The size of each one is 60 x 40 x 40. Let its weight be 15 kg. First of all, it should be checked whether this shipment is included in volume cargo. Then the charge weight must be found.
When calculating the volume measurement, normal weight is found as: 100 x 15 = 1500 kg. Volume weight: 100 x 40 x 60 x 40 = 9.6000.000 / 6.000 = 1600 kg. Volume weight is larger than normal weight. Therefore, the volume weight will be the charge weight of the material.
Container Cubic Meter Calculation
In transportation, the volume of the load to be transported is also very important along with the weight. This issue should be taken into consideration when making calculations. Now let us show you how to calculate the volume of the cargo to be transported.
When calculating, we always enter the number of crates, parcels or pallets and their dimensions in centimeters.
We have 3 pallets with a width of 80 cm, a length of 120 cm and a height of 100 cm. The volume calculation formula for this cargo is as follows;
(Width x Length x Height / 1,000,000) x Quantity When we show it in numbers;
It is (80 x 120 x 100 / 1,000,000) x 3. As a result of this process, we find the Volume as 2.88.
Container Volume Calculation
Container is one of the most used transportation equipment in logistics activities. With container volume calculation, it is learned how many packages, how many boxes or how many pallets can be placed in a container.
Containers produced according to certain standards can be used in cargo transportation for 10 – 15 years. There are two types: 40′ and 20′ containers.
When calculating how many pallets will fit into a 20′ container, the standard pallet size is accepted as 1000 mm x 120 mm. Its internal volume is 2352 mm x 5900 mm. Accordingly, 10 packages can fit into a 20-foot container.
